Israeli and Palestinian delegations are in Cairo for talks on a lasting truce to end Israel’s devastating war on Gaza.
Delegations from Palestine and Israel held separate meetings with Egyptian officials in Cairo on Wednesday, as the 72-hour ceasefire in the Gaza Strip enters its second day.
Reports indicate that the Israeli delegation is expected to give an initial response to Palestinian demands later today.
Palestinians are seeking an end to the Israeli-Egyptian blockade of the densely-populated enclave and the release of prisoners.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian mediators heard the terms of the Israeli delegation in Cairo last night.
Palestinian officials said they would respond to the Israeli conditions through the Egyptian officials.
The two delegations have yet to sit down face to face during the event in the Egyptian capital.
The Tel Aviv regime has already pulled its military forces out of Gaza following 30 days of relentless massacre against Palestinians.
The Israeli military aggression has taken the lives of more than 1,875 Palestinians, including 430 children, and wounded over 9,600 others in Gaza since July 8.
A 72-hour humanitarian truce between the Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas and Israel took effect at 8 a.m. (0500 GMT) on Tuesday.
