Rally Held for Cincinnati Man Killed During Traffic Stop

CINCINNATI, Ohio (WDTN) — At least six people were arrested during a rally in Cincinnati protesting the deadly shooting of a driver during a traffic stop.
More than 250 people came out for the rally organized by “Black Lives Matter Cincinnati” Friday night on the courthouse steps.
The rally was held in honor of Sam DuBose. He was shot and killed July 19 after he was stopped by University of Cincinnati Police officer Ray Tensing for a missing license plate.
Overall, officials report the protests were peaceful. DuBose’s family said he was a peaceful man and they want the community to honor his memory by keeping the peace.
Tensing was indicted for the deadly shooting and has pleaded not guilty to murder and voluntary manslaughter. Tensing has maintained he thought he was going to be dragged under Dubose’s car. Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said the body cam video disputes that claim.
UC terminated Tensing’s employment. Two other UC officers who responded to the scene when DuBose was shot will not face criminal charges. They are on paid leave pending an internal investigation.
Tensing’s next court appearance is set for August 19.
