Foreign Ministry Condemns US Attack on Syrian Army Positions in Deir Ezzor
Damascus, SANA – The Foreign and Expatriates Ministry sent two letters to the UN Secretary-General and the head of the Security Council in which it said that the US aggression on positions for the Syrian Arab Army in al-Tharda Mountain in the surroundings of Deir Ezzor Airport is a serious and blatant attack on the Syrian Arab Republic and its army.
The Ministry said that this cowardly US aggression is incontrovertible evidence that the United States and its allies support ISIS and other armed terrorist groups, and that Syria demands that the Security Council condemn this aggression and force the United States to never repeat it and to respect Syria’s sovereignty and unity.
The Ministry went on to say that Syria affirms that fighting terrorism is only acceptable within the framework of coordinating with the Syrian government and army, and any action outside international legitimacy can only be considered a blatant violation of Syria’s sovereignty.
Foreign Ministry: Syrian government exerts positive efforts to deliver humanitarian aid
An official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said that due to the increasing number of inaccurate statements by some international parties regarding the delivery of aid to Aleppo city, the government of the Syrian Arab Republic affirms that it fulfills its obligations to its people all over Syria in order to overcome the difficult conditions that the country suffers from, thus in this respect it does what is necessary to deliver humanitarian aid to those in need anywhere in Syria.
The source added in a statement of which SANA received a copy that the Syrian government confirms that it has done everything required to facilitate the arrival of the convoy of the humanitarian aid to eastern Aleppo.
The source explained that due to the commitments through which the Syrian authorities agreed to deliver the aid, and contrary to all the rumors, it did not receive any assurances regarding the safety of the convoys, since the gunmen are still firing at the road through which the convoys will run and the armed terrorist groups are also firing the side roads surrounding the main road through which the convoys pass.
The statement affirmed that the Syrian government has done what is necessary in order to open a safe corridor for the convoys, and that it established special posts for that purpose, particularly by members of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), noting that the armed groups have not withdrawn from the roads up till now and that they continue committing serious provocative acts.
The source concluded by saying that the Syrian government confirms again that it undertakes all possible positive and constructive efforts to achieve the goal of delivering humanitarian aid to those who need it and expresses willingness for dialogue and cooperation with international parties concerned with implementing what has been agreed upon with the United Nations, particularly the measures related to humanitarian situations.
