Widow of Keith Lamont Scott Does Not Believe Police Version of Events in Charlottee
The widow of Keith Lamont Scott spoke on national television about her husband who was shot and killed last month by a CMPD officer.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The wife of Keith Scott says she does not believe it was an African-American officer who shot and killed her husband last month.
The shooting death of Scott during an altercation with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police touched off days of sometimes violent protests and demonstrations.
CMPD has always said the officer who fired the fatal shots was Brentley Vinson.
Scott’s wife, Rakeyia Scott told Gayle King on the CBS Morning News that she believes one of the other officers who was there at the time of the incident fired the shots that killed her husband.
“Officer Vinson, I do not believe, shot my husband,” she said during her first interview since the shooting.
But Attorney Charles Monnett who represents the Scott family said he has not seen any evidence that supports Rakeyia Scott’s belief.
“I don’t see that evidence on the video that has been made available thus far,” Monnett said.
An autopsy commissioned by the family found that Scott had been shot in the lower left abdomen, his wrist, and once in the back.
Said Monnett, “There is an officer in a red shirt in front of him, but officer Vinson is in a location that is not clearly seen at the time when the shots were fired.
Monnett said Rakeyia Scott was there when it happened and, “Her beliefs are her beliefs.”
A funeral service for Scott will be held Friday morning near Charleston, South Carolina.
