Official Lauds Security Forces’ Handling of Tehran Terrorist Incidents
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Political Deputy of Iran’s Presidential Office Hamid Aboutalebi condemned two deadly terrorist attacks in Tehran on Wednesday and at the same time praised the power of the country’s security forces in the face of the incidents.
“If the terrorist act in Tehran had occurred in Europe or elsewhere, it would have caused heavy casualties,” Aboutalebi said on his Twitter account on Wednesday.
“Hail to the power and strength” of the Iranian security forces, including the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Basij Force and the Law Enforcement, he added in his tweet.
The Iranian official further emphasized that no matter where terrorism occurs, the world should prove that the phenomenon is condemned, calling on the international community to fight against terrorism with more steadfastness and unity.
Wednesday’s terrorist attack on the Iranian Parliament and the police siege of the building finished in the afternoon. All four gunmen have been killed in the exchange of gunfire.
In another attack on the same day, a group of terrorists opened fire at several people in the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, south of Tehran.
According to officials, 12 people have been killed and 42 others were wounded in the two incidents.
