On May 8, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, met with the honorable Antonio Guterres, United Nations Secretary General, on an official visit to the island.
In a friendly atmosphere the two officials discussed the importance of preserving global peace and security, the principles of International Law, as well as issues of mutual interest.
The distinguished visitor was accompanied by the honorable Alicia Bárcena, executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC); Consuelo Vidal, resident coordinator of the UN system in Cuba; and Katrin Hett, assistant for Political Affairs in the Executive Office of the SecretaryGeneral.
Participating on the Cuban side were Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Relations, and Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, Cuba’s Permanent representative at the United Nations.
