23 November، 2018
Rome, SANA – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed that work will continue to eliminate terrorism in Syria and return displaced Syrians to their homes.
In a joint press conference on Friday with Italian counterpart Enzo Milanesi, Lavrov said that guarantor states for the Astana process (Russia, Iran, and Turkey are working to eliminate terrorism and return displaced Syrians to their homes, and that Russia is working towards forming the committee to discuss the Syrian constitution as per the agreement reached at the intra-Syrian dialogue congress in Sochi.
Lavrov said the next Astana meeting will be held on November 28-29.
In the same context, Lavrov said during the 4th Mediterranean Dialogues forum that the crisis in Syria must be resolved according to resolution no. 2254, and this is what the Astana meetings and the Sochi congress are based on.
He said work on establishing the committee for discussing the constitution is almost over, rejecting the idea if imposing specific and unrealistic time frames for forming it.
