August 3, 2026 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese army is advancing on all fronts to eliminate the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) before the end of the year, its chief of staff said on Monday.

Yasir al-Atta made the remarks while addressing fighters alongside Musa Hilal, leader of the Mahameed tribe, and al-Nur al-Gubba, a defected RSF brigadier general, according to videos posted on social media by army supporters.

The exact location of the gathering was not specified.

Hilal has summoned hundreds of supporters since fleeing his stronghold of Mustariha in North Darfur following an RSF attack in February. His men have been undergoing military training at a camp on the outskirts of Omdurman.

Al-Atta said the army was applying a strategy of advancing across all sectors simultaneously, drawing a comparison to the military campaign that led to the recapture of Khartoum state.

He added that allied forces were being given the freedom to choose which front they wanted to join.

Al-Atta vowed that no RSF fighters or foreign mercenaries would remain in Sudan by the end of 2026.

He urged the fighters to finalize their internal structure ahead of a meeting with senior commanders next week, after which movement permits would be issued.

The statements come 10 days after the army and its allies launched a surprise offensive, seizing control of Bara, Jabrat al-Sheikh, Um Siyala and key locations along the export road connecting Omdurman to El Obeid in North Kordofan.

The gains give the military a strategic advantage should it decide to advance into North Darfur or West Kordofan, while securing Omdurman from potential attacks along the export route and reducing the threat of an RSF assault on El Obeid.
