Demonstrations were held in over 100 cities yesterday throughout the United States demanding federal intervention in the acquittal of George Zimmerman for the murder of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida. Millions have expressed outrage over the verdict handed down on July 13, which has gained international media attention.

The foreign minister of the military-imposed interim government in the North African state of Egypt has expressed concern over the plans of Ethiopia to continue with the building of the Great Renaissance Dam project. Also the new government has said that it will re-assess the breaking of relations with Syria which was carried out by the ousted government of President Mohamed Morsi.

In the Southern African nation of Zimbabwe is preparing for national harmonzied elections on July 31. Vice-President Joice Mujuru has called for the doing away with the western-backed opposition MDC-T party in the upcoming vote.

Finally, in Detroit, the largest African American city in the U.S., is poised for a major struggle over the bank-engineered seizure of pension funds. A demonstration is slated to be held on Friday, July 26, demanding the cancellation of Detroit's supposed debt to the banks.
