For the first time after the disbandment of the provincial executive committees of both Limpopo ANC and the youth league, President Jacob Zuma will visit the province on Sunday on a party mission.

Zuma last appeared at the party function when the ANC provincial task team was presented to the public at the University of Limpopo in March.

Last month, he went to the University of Venda in Thohoyandou at the invitation of King Mphephu Ramabulana, where he was presented with the King Makhado Bravery Award for his role in the liberation struggle and as head of the state.

And in July, Zuma visited the agricultural fields near Tompi Selaka College of Agriculture outside Marble Hall, where he rolled up his sleeves to help rural farmers harvest their crops. He was there in his capacity as president of the country.

Observers said with the general elections around the corner and the ANC in the province having cleared itself of former provincial chairperson Cassel Mathale and his allies such as fired ANC Youth League president Julius Malema, Zuma would have no fears attending public party engagements in the province.

Yesterday, ANCYL provincial spokesperson Onicca Moloi said it was all systems go for Msholozi’s visit on Sunday at the Seshego Stadium.

“This is a national event, we expect thousands of ANC members and supporters, both young and old, from around the country to attend the 69th anniversary commemoration of the formation of the ANCYL,” Moloi said.

Tripatite alliance partners, Cosatu, SACP as well as progressive youth alliance and ANC deployees in government and municipalities are expected to attend, she said.

Moloi announced that the line-up for entertainment boasts Zahara, Oskido, Mafikizolo and many more.
