PRETORIA - International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane says South Africa is in talks with Zimbabwe to try and resolve the dispute over its recent decision to implement restrictions on goods being imported into the country.

The long list of products Zimbabwean retailers can no longer bring in freely from South Africa include bottled water, furniture and steel material.

The recent amendments to what can and can't enter Zimbabwe have sparked chaotic scenes at the Beitbridge border post.

There are concerns that businesses and traders who rely on these products will be severely affected.

Nkoana-Mashabane says she hopes to reach an amicable solution with Zimbabwe.

“We will continue to engage Zimbabwe in pursuit of an amicable solution which will be mutually beneficial.”
