July 20, 2016

UPND leaders led by party president Hakainde Hichilema yesterday participated in the Law Association of Zambia violence free demonstration that characterised into a church service at the Cathedral. The campaign team issued a statement saying they are for peaceful campaigns.

The UPND have been accused of being party to the electoral violence using the Mapatizya Formula. Some PF members have been killed by suspected UPND supporters with stakeholders calling on party leaders in the country to end the rising challenge.

BELO IS THE UPND STATEMENT

Today we attended prayers for peaceful and violence-free elections organised by the Law Association of Zambia and presided over by the Council of Churches in Zambia at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.

We have maintained our call for peace and unity and prayed to God that all our people can appreciate the true value of peace.

During today’s prayers we reaffirmed our commitment to conducting peaceful campaigns.

We once again called on our people throughout the country never to use violence no matter the provocation.

We are extremely grateful to the Church and the Law Association of Zambia for organising these prayers.

God bless you all.
