JOHANNESBURG - North West Premier and African National Congress (ANC) provincial chairperson Supra Mahumapelo says the governing party must allow a woman to be the next president to prove its commitment to non-sexism.

Mahumapelo was speaking during a Cadre’s Forum in Klerksdorp on Thursday.

Presidential hopeful Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is the main speaker at the event.

Mahumapelo says that the ANC needs to prove that it's a non-sexist organisation.

“For the first time, show the world that you are ANC and that you are committed to building the course of non-sexism.”

He says on 18 December the party will have a new president.

“That president will be a woman, not just any woman, that woman will be Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.”

Mahumapelo says they’ll work towards uniting the party after the elective conference.
