UNSC Is Bargaining Ground of Interest-seeking Powers
The situation on the Korean peninsula has rapidly aggravated after the adoption of the anti-DPRK "sanctions resolution" 2371 at the UN Security Council under the manipulation of the US.

The DPRK government flatly denied the "resolution", aimed to completely block its economic development and improvement of people's livelihood, as a wanton violation of the sovereignty of the country and clarified its will to make the toughest counteraction against it.

Meanwhile the US started large-scale joint military exercises, flexing its military muscle, thus driving the situation to a catastrophic phase.

After all, the UN Security Council has discarded its basic mission and this has made it unable to evade the responsibility for putting the peace and security in the Korean peninsula, the region and the rest of the world in peril.

Those countries which voted for the sanctions against the DPRK are now going busy, calling for "restraint" and "peaceful solution". This is a clear indication of the embarrassment they have faced over the development of the situation.

It is truth repeatedly proven in history that sanctions would never help solve the problem and they are not beneficial to anyone.

However, the UNSC cooked up the illegal and unprecedented inhuman "sanctions resolution" against the DPRK again. This clearly proves its nature as a means for executing the White House's policy hostile towards the DPRK and its position as a political waiting maid serving the US.

What should not be overlooked is the fact that the UNSC has turned into a behind-the-scene bargaining ground of big powers for meeting their interests.

Before voting for the "resolution", its permanent members had shown off principle and faith, saying that sanctions themselves are not the purpose and they should not impinge on the usual economic activities and people's living in the DPRK. But they made a U-turn overnight. This is not a secret.

Do the permanent member nations have the face to trumpet about independent right, guarantee of security and international justice, and can they be called responsible big countries in the true sense of the words as they went impudent as to place their own interests above the existence and security of a sovereign state.

After yielding to the US high-handed and arbitrary practices and to meet their imminent interests, the big powers trampled the sovereignty and rights to existence and development of a sovereign country.

This could have "impressed" the US but the response to it by the international community is unusually negative.

The Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah on August 10, noting that "countries taking issue with the nuclear weapons of north Korea are nuclear powers", commented "nuclear powers are closely watched as they invade and bomb other countries, get themselves ready to destroy the third world countries and brand those countries as 'dangerous elements' while pushing them into a tight corner".

This report represents the perspective of the international community on the arrogant powers.

Such outdated international order as the UNSC system can no longer guarantee the future of humankind.
