PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has re-assured residents of the border district of Kasese not to live in fear of attacks from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels said to be hiding in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
He said that the military was strong and the last time ADF rebels infiltrated Uganda, they were repulsed and suffered heavy casualties with 87 of their fighters killed in River Semliki and the 13 survivors fled back to the Congo.
"I know that there are remnants of the defeated ADF rebels and they are hiding in Congo because that country is not yet peaceful.
Our army today is not like the past armies. It is very sharp and strong. If ADF comes, we shall defeat them immediately. Those ADF remnants also know it," he told a rally in Nyakasanga stadium in Kasese town.
The President also advised voters in Kasese District to elect candidates who will work with the NRM government and the voters to support the NRM flag bearers in the district.

"Elect Movement leaders who will help you. It is not helpful for you to elect leaders who will oppose the NRM. They waste time," Museveni said.
