Abayomi Azikiwe Hosts Program on the Theft of Voting Rights and Corporate Dictatorship in the Cities
This week's Pan-African Journal worldwide radio broadcast focused on the cultural contributions of several African musical artists from Senegal, Cape Verde and South Africa. Some of the greatest music being produced in the world is coming out of Africa and these contributions should be recognized for their pioneering achievements.
Two essays were reviewed in the program including an article written by the host on the attacks being carried out against Section 5 of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. The issue is now before the United States Supreme Court where Shelby County, Alabama has challenged the enforcement provision on the false premise that the South has changed fundamentally since the 1960s.
Detroit is a prime example of such attacks on universal suffrage. In the Motor City the attacks are a direct result of the massive fraud perpetuated by the banks and multinational corporations through predatory mortgage lending and the series of credit default swap loans and bond issues that have rendered the city into financial ruin.
