Somalia: AU representative apologises for civilian deaths
Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Somalia Mahamet Saleh Annadif on Monday (December 23rd) apologised for the deaths of two civilians killed by an African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) armoured vehicle when it hit their motorbike Friday.
Investigations have been launched into the incident and appropriate legal action will be taken when they are complete, Annadif said in a statement.
“We regret this tragic accident. Our thoughts are with the families who have suffered such a great loss,” Annadif said.
He added that AMISOM would work with the Somali Police Force on driver training and equipment maintenance to prevent future incidents.
