DONETSK, May 07. /ITAR-TASS/. The self-defense forces of the Donetsk Oblast have exchanged three officers of Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) for “people’s governor” Pavel Gubarev, co-chairman of the government of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin told ITAR-TASS.
Pushilin confirmed the information regarding the exchange. He added that “several more people” were released along with Gubarev.
On March 1, Gubraev was proclaimed the “people’s governor” of Donetsk.
SBU in Donetsk filed criminal charges against Gubarev for encroaching on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability, attempting to overthrow the government and seizing government or administrative buildings and facilities. The people’s governor of Donetsk was arrested on March 6.

Alexander Bastrykin says Russian Investigative Committee has launched a whole range of criminal cases against extremists
MOSCOW, May 07. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian law enforcement and security agencies will prevent threats directed against Russia, which have been voiced by Maidan extremists, from being carried out, Russian Investigative Committee head Alexander Bastrykin said on Wednesday.
“We have launched a whole range of criminal cases against extremists,” Bastrykin said at a solemn event involving World War II veterans dedicated to the 69th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in WWII.
“The fate of Bily (Alexander Muzychko, a coordinator of the Ukrainian far-right ultranationalist movement Right Sector) is known. Besides, we have launched criminal proceedings against (Right Sector head Dmytro) Yarosh, putting him on an international wanted list, against other persons who threatened Russia with terrorist attacks, guerrilla actions, retaliatory acts,” Bastrykin said.
“Jointly with the armed forces, with law enforcement bodies, we will prevent threats and acts of revenge against us, because the great history of the Great Victory is behind us,” he said.
Earlier on Wednesday, Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told ITAR-TASS that the committee extended the investigation period for the criminal case against Yarosh and merged the case with the case of members of the far-right organization Ukrainian National Assembly -
On March 5, Russia’s Investigative Committee charged Yarosh, who had voiced threats against Russia and its nationals, with using media to make public calls for terrorist and extremist activity. A Moscow court sanctioned his arrest in absentia.
Besides, a criminal case was opened against UNA-UNSO members Ihor Mazur, Valery Bobrovich, Dmytro Korchinsky, Andriy and Oleh Tyagnibok, Yarosh, Volodymyr Mamalyga and others. They are accused of fighting against Russian federal forces on the side of Chechen militants in 1994-1995.

Ukraine's parliament-appointed Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk says it should be a matter of national discussion and decision-making
KIEV, May 07. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s parliament-appointed Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has touched upon the issue of the status of the Russian language in the country at a government session in Kharkiv.
“If it is necessary in the framework of the Constitution to introduce a special status for the Russian language and languages of other national minorities in the country, I think this should be a matter of national discussion and decision-making,” Yatsenyuk said.
The prime minister noted that it was necessary to send the draft constitution to the Venice Commission for consideration as soon as possible. The Venice Commission is an advisory body to the European Council on constitutional law.
“Even if they are certain disagreements on the issue between different political forces, the draft constitution should be sent to our European partners in order to receive feedback and complete the constitutional reform in Ukraine,” Yatsenyuk added.
IMF to help Ukraine repay gas debts

The International Monetary Fund evaluation mission will arrive in Ukraine in late June or early July
KIEV, May 07. /ITAR-TASS/. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) evaluation mission will arrive in Ukraine in late June or early July, IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine Jerome Vacher said on Wednesday, May 7.
Vacher said technical assistance would be provided to the government of Ukraine within the next two months, including on matters related to public expenditures.
The aid package for Ukraine includes enough funds to cover its debt for gas supplies, the official said, adding that the package was structured in such a way as to allow Ukraine to pay its gas debts and fulfill its main obligations.
Vacher said that aid was based on the gas price of $385 per 1,000 cubic metres and noted that the price should be discussed by Naftogaz of Ukraine and Russia’s Gazprom.
He admitted that it was hard to determine the market price of gas but different price levels could be found.
