Zimbabwe Minister Tells Media to be Responsible
Be responsible, Khaya Moyo urges media

Senior Minister of State Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo has called on the media to be responsible and promote nation building and economic development rather than focus on issues that destroy the country.Cde Khaya Moyo made the remarks in his brief to the newly appointed Development Trust of Zimbabwe board members in Harare yesterday.
“I want to request our colleagues from the media to report us correctly,” he said. “No sensationalism. We are very factual people.
“We see a lot of happenings in the Press these days. I don’t think that’s really necessary if we are to build our country. Nobody else will do it for us except ourselves. Unless somebody has got some other agenda, I don’t know, but we don’t want agendas, we are looking for development.”
Cde Khaya Moyo accused the media of preoccupying itself with issues that destroy the country.
“Please let us write things which build our country,” he said. “We have only one Zimbabwe. If this country burns, it’s not that you journalists will be spared, you will also burn.
“Let’s not create things which aim at destroying our country. So, I hope that we shall see you promoting good ideas from great leaders and building unity around it.”
Cde Khaya Moyo said the media should be at the forefront of supporting activities such as the DTZ projects that seeks to economically develop the nation.
DTZ is a brainchild of the late two Vice Presidents Dr Joshua Nkomo and Dr Simon Muzenda, while President Mugabe is its patron.
DTZ was launched in 1989 to establish projects in all provinces to create employment and assist people with income generating projects.
So far DTZ has five projects including the Greencroft Coffee Estate in Mutare, Nuanetsi Cattle Ranch in Masvingo, DTZ-OZGEO, a mining project in Manicaland and a sugar project in Chiredzi.
