Kenya Parades Corpses of Slain Al Shabaab Militants
TVC NEWS [NAIROBI] -Kenyan security forces have paraded corpses of 11 Al Shabaab militants killed during a botched raid on Sunday in the north coast town of Lamu.
Our East African Correspondent Ken Karuri reports that among the dead was British al-Shabaab jihadist, Thomas Evans who was killed when the militants attacked a _Kenyan_ army base.
Hundreds of people including scores of children thronged the streets of the coastal town of Lamu to catch a glimpse of the bodies of the Somalia-based Al Shabaab militants who were killed by Kenya's security officials on dawn Sunday.
The terrorists, who included a British Jihadist, Thomas Evans were killed in a foiled attack on a Kenya military camp at Baure, 39 kilometres from the Bargoni base in Lamu East.
The militants had planned to attack the town on the anniversary of last year's Mpeketoni deadly assaults that claimed the lives of more than 80 people.
Evans, who is also known as Abdul Hakim, converted to Islam in 2009 and is reported to have travelled to Somalia in 2011 to join al Shabaab.
Four other terrorists who escaped in the expansive Boni forest in the area were also killed later in the evening including Issa Lukman Osman, the ring leader of the 2014 attacks
Al Shabaab has in recent years increased its attacks on Kenya after battling for years to overthrow the Somali government.
The group claimed responsibility for the Garissa University massacre that left at least 148 people dead in April and was also behind the September 2013, Westgate shopping mall attack that led to the deaths of at least 67 people.
