Landmark partnership brings Ethiopian cinema to a global audience while advancing AfroPix’s mission to feature authentic stories from every Sub-Saharan African nation and the Caribbean.

ADDIS ABABA / LONDON — July 30, 2026 — The Ethiopian International Film Festival (EIFF) and AfroPix, the dedicated streaming platform for authentic African cinema, have officially launched the Ethiopian Showcase. The strategic partnership expands the digital footprint of contemporary Ethiopian feature films, documentaries, and shorts globally.

The showcase marks a key operational milestone in AfroPix’s broader cross-continental mission: establishing official distribution pipelines with national film bodies and festival curators to ensure content from every single Sub-Saharan African country, as well as the Caribbean, is represented on the platform.

Under AfroPix’s creator-first compensation structure, participating filmmakers earn significantly higher returns than traditional global video platforms—paying creators $3,000 per 100,000 views to provide a sustainable revenue model designed to empower independent cinema across emerging markets.

“We are on a mission to ensure authentic African and Caribbean stories reach global audiences with zero friction,” said Tyrone Satchwell, Founder & CEO of AfroPix. “Partnering with the Ethiopian International Film Festival allows us to highlight the exceptional talent of Ethiopian storytellers as part of our ultimate ‘First to 54’ national showcase initiative across the continent and throughout the Caribbean diaspora.”

The curated selection offers viewers direct access to acclaimed narrative and documentary works selected in partnership with EIFF leadership.

“This partnership allows us to extend the festival’s impact beyond physical venue screenings,” added Yirgashewa Teshome, Founding Director of the Ethiopian International Film Festival. “It gives Ethiopian filmmakers international exposure, dedicated digital distribution, and a sustainable path to commercial monetization.”
