Build October 7: National Day to Defend Education: Rally at WSU, Noon-1:00pm

Dear Editors,

Greetings. Hope this finds you well.

On Oct. 7 there will be a a rally at Wayne State on Gullen Mall. This action is part of the National Day of Action to Defend Education II. As part of this day of action dozens of rallies and other actions will be taking place at community colleges, technical schools and universities across the U.S. and internationally. http://www.defendeducation.org

We thank you for your great coverage last year during the first National Day of Action March 4. Considering the attacks on education in terms of budget cuts and other matters that affect Wayne State so profoundly, we'll look forward to seeing you again this year as we'll have a broad range of speakers and also many available for interviews.

If you'd like to conduct interviews before Thursday please contact myself or Lauren Burnett, a Wayne State Student who is helping to organize the rally at WSU. Lauren Burnett: leburnett@gmail.com. Either we can participate in the interviews or we can provide you persons to interview.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

DEFEND EDUCATION!!

*October 7, 2010 National Day of Action*

The lines are drawn. As working families struggle to recover from the economic crisis, access to education and jobs are diminishing as cuts continue to come. At a time when student loan debt has surpassed credit card debt, we call on students, teachers, faculty, staff, workers, and parents to unite together and defend public education this fall. The greed of the bankers and employers are responsible for the economic crisis not us. We didn't create the crisis and we won't pay for it.

JOIN US ON Thursday, OCTOBER 7 AT NOON ON GULLEN MALL AT WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY TO DEMAND:

Money for education, not for war and bank bailouts!

Schools, not prisons!

Stop attacks on LGBTQ, women, and students of color!

Amnesty for all student loans!

Stop attacks on teachers and staff!

Support all unions!
