The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has condemned Tuesday's attack on the residence of the President of the Republic of Guinea, Professor Alpha Conde, by a group of military personnel.
The attack reportedly left one person dead and some others wounded.
Describing the act as cowardly and irresponsible against democracy in Guinea, the ECOWAS Commission said it could destabilize the country and hinder its democratisation process.
The commission advised that the perpetrators of the attack be brought before competent courts and urged the people of the country to remain calm.
Reiterating its willingness to support Guinea in its quest for peace and socio-economic development, ECOWAS urged the defense and security forces to be more proactive in discharging their duties.
