Venezuela to give money, food to Somalia
CARACAS (Sh. M. Network) – Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says his government is giving $5 million in emergency relief to famine-stricken Somalia.
Chavez, who is undergoing cancer treatment in Cuba, made the announcement on Friday in a telephone call broadcast on state television. He said Venezuela also planed to expedite food supplies by airplane.
Chavez said he was sending a delegation of military officials to Somali to see what else his country could do to help the drought- and famine-stricken East African nation.
