Acting President Joice Mujuru has urged communities to shun vandalism and safeguard infrastructure in their communities.
Speaking at the commissioning of a US$100 000 classroom block at Muguta Secondary School in Epworth, Cde Mujuru said it was important for the public to safeguard the country's infrastructure.
"We should desist from this culture of destroying what is beneficial to us and our children.
"We should jealously guard and protect infrastructure from theft and vandalism," she said.
The Acting President said she did not want to hear after leaving the school that thieves had already stolen asbestos sheets used to roof the block.
The classroom block was built by Innscor under their social responsibility programme to improve the lives of communities.
She castigated those bent on perpetrating violence, rape especially abuse of disadvantaged girls and urged the community to shun such acts.
She called on the nation to help particularly children orphaned by HIV and Aids.
"There are many children who are orphans because their parents died from Aids. We should not abuse these children but look after them," she said.
She challenged other companies to emulate Innscor.
"Government cannot do it alone and other companies should emulate Innscor and also give back to the community," she said.
She urged the Ministry of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture to come up with an education curriculum relevant to Zimbabwe.
Innscor group chief executive Mr Tom Brown said even though the company was still struggling, it remained committed to playing a part in improving the lives of the disadvantaged.
"We will continue to discharge our social responsibility obligations. Our modest contribution at this school is but a part of our comprehensive programmes," Mr Brown said.
He said over the years, Innscor had made various interventions including refurbishment of the Mbare Swimming Pool, repainting of some police stations, construction of a maternity delivery theatre at Edith Opperman Clinic and meeting operation costs of the Cancer Society of Zimbabwe.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Education Minister Lazarus Dokora, Zanu-PF Harare provincial chairman, Cde Amos Midzi, senior Government officials among others.
