Israeli forces attack Palestinian protesters in West Bank

Israeli forces have fired tear gas and rubber bullets at Palestinian demonstrators protesting against settler violence in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
The violence erupted as about 500 Palestinian villagers tried to march from the West bank village of Deir Jarir toward a nearby Jewish settlement outpost on Friday.
Many Palestinian demonstrators were injured in the attack.
The villagers say the march was held in response to several settler attacks in Deir Jarir this week.
According to Deir Jarir residents, Israeli settlers torched around ten cars in the village, pelted village youth with stones and planted an Israeli flag on a derelict church.
"This was a peaceful area. We're gathered today to say we refuse to be attacked and driven off our own land. We want their army to pull the settlers out," said a resident.
Israeli troops have also attacked Palestinian demonstrators in Beit Ummar village, northwest of al-Khalil (Hebron), who were protesting against the expansion of settler units on their land.
