Somalia: Kismayo security forces arrest a woman in connection to failed suicide bomb attempt

KISMAYO (RBC) Security forces in Kismayo, a southern Somalia port town have arrested a woman alleged on suicide bomb attempt on Wednesday in Kismayo, officials said.
The spokesman of Kismayo interim administration Abdinasir Seeraar said the woman was caught by security personnel after trying to enter Kismayo university, the base of the ongoing Jubbaland Conference.
The woman in her 20s is now being interrogated at the police station and no other person was arrested.
Meanwhile the security forces backed by the Kenyan contingent of the African Union Mission in Somalia fought against Al Shabab members during a heavy gun battle on Wednesday morning near the Kismayo airport. The airport was closed since early last week for unknown reasons.
Al Shabab run-radio reported several Kenyan soldiers and Somali security forces were killed in the battle at Kismayo airport. Al Shabab also claimed they have hit the airport and Kenyan army bases.
There were not any comments from the Kenyan army in Kismayo and the interim administration in Kismayo.
