Foreign Ministry: EU decision against Hezbollah serves Israel's plots in the region
Jul 23, 2013
Damascus, (SANA)- An official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry on Tuesday expressed denunciation of the European Union foreign ministers' decision to put what they called "the armed wing of Lebanese Hezbollah" on its list of terrorist organizations.
The source stressed that the decision came in response to the U.S. and Israeli demands against the movement of resistance in Lebanon and the rest of the Arab states.
"Hezbollah is a fundamental part of the Lebanese national fabric and enjoys a wide popularity in Lebanon," said the source, highlighting the effective role Hezbollah plays in everything that is related to the Lebanese political life.
The source stressed that Hezbollah "plays a positive role in bolstering the national unity in brotherly Lebanon," adding that all of this has made Hezbollah a target for the states and forces that do not have good intentions for Lebanon and the Arab nation.
"Syria strongly denounces this decision which encourages aggression and occupation, and stresses that it won't affect the spirit of the Resistance led by Hezbollah to liberate South Lebanon from the Israeli occupation," said the source.
He expressed Syria's condemnation of this decision and the forces which stood behind it because "it targets the present and future of the Arab nation and the resistant fabric in it and serves the Israeli plots in the region."
