Somalia: One Killed, Two Wounded in Kismayo Explosion
21 JULY 2013
A land mine targeted an African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) convoy in Kismayo Saturday morning (July 20th), killing at least one civilian and wounding two others, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.
The convoy carrying Sierra Leonean troops was passing Kismayo General Hospital. It is the fourth attack targeting AMISOM forces in Kismayo this month, according to Somalia's Garowe Online.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Saturday's explosion came hours after fighting broke out on the outskirts of the city between al-Shabaab militants and the Ras Kamboni militia, according to Somalia's Shabelle Media Network.
