FM Dismisses ‘Peaceful, Diplomatic Solution’
The spokesman for the Institute of American Studies of the DPRK Foreign Ministry dismissed arguments that anti-DPRK sanctions and pressure translate as a peaceful and diplomatic solution to the Korean peninsula issue.
Some earlier, US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley and other officials of the US administration claimed that they now prefer a diplomatic approach in reference to the trade embargo on the DPRK, though every possible option like military approach is available.
They are misleading the public as if sanctions on the DPRK are part of the peaceful and diplomatic means, the spokesman told KCNA on September 28.
Echoing such arguments, he noted, European countries and some of the neighbouring countries that are following the herd defend their vicious acts saying that they seek a peaceful settlement of the issue in such a way as to join the moves for sanctions and pressure they describe as the diplomatic means of settlement.
In terms of risks, the political and economic sanctions and pressure designed to strip a sovereign state of its rights to sovereignty, survival and development are nothing less than military invasion or warfare, he said. In no case such moves can be justified as a peaceful and diplomatic effort, he added.
“They are seriously mistaken if they think the DPRK would be resigned to being subjected to the war threats and punitive measures by the US and other hostile forces,” he said. “We will get tougher in response.”
