Angola Project Could Help Progress Marginal North Sea fields, Amplus Claim

A six-month project in Angola could help in the progression of marginal North Sea fields, according to an Aberdeen-headquartered floating production firm.
Amplus Energy Services announced yesterday it had been awarded a multi-million pound deal to re-evaluate the development of marginal fields in Angola.
It claimed the contract was with a “major operator”, but was unwilling to disclose the firm or contract amount.
Amplus said the aim of the contract is to “develop economically viable fields” off the coast of Angola.
Using the The Amplus Versatile Production Unit (VPU), it said the work will be managed from its Aberdeen base.
Amplus will work in partnership with TechnipFMC and Halliburton to support the work on the project, while local support in Angola will be provided by Amplus Energy Services’ partner in country – Prodiaman Oil Services SA.
Ian Herd, managing director of Amplus Energy Services, said: “The lessons learned from this latest contract award will not only be strategically key for marginal field developments in Angola, but also in the North Sea, where there are more than 200 discoveries still to be developed with several billion barrels of oil available for recovery.
