Central committee of Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) has issued a long statement after seven days of meeting in Mekele which ended early this week.
In the statement, the ethnic Tigray party has pointed out the political situation in Ethiopia is a crisis situation and it may get worse if the ruling coalition, Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), decided to unite itself ending the existence of coalition member parties. TPLF itself is still a member of the ruling coalition.
The party seem to see the move to unite the coalition as a sort of plot. It has explicitly said that it is a move to establish a new political party. The party claimed that it has averted all sorts of campaign to subdue the people of Tigray and TPLF in the past one year (they meant to insinuate prime minister Abiy Ahmed’s government).
TPLF went further to claim that what lies ahead is even worse and called on the people of Tigray to step up effort to struggle against what it called threat against the people of Tigray.
Abraha Desta is a chairman of Arena party, another ethnic Tigray party operating in Tigray as an opposition. In an interview with Andafta Media remarks that TPLF could open war. War against who? Take a listen to the interview below.
