Russian Foreign Ministry: Developments in Afrin May Further Destabilize the Region

Moscow, SANA- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Oleg Syromolotov, stressed that the development of the situation in Afrin city may lead to further destabilization of the region.
Russian Novosti news agency quoted Syromolotov as saying Thursday that the development of the situation in Afrin is fabricated due to the US actions and it can truly lead to even greater destabilization in this region,”
“With great regret, we have to assert that a new hotbed of tension is expanding in Syria,” he said, adding that “the US and Turkish opposing interests in the region are expanding further.”
The Turkish continued aggression since 20 days on Afrin area left more than 500 civilians dead or injured due to targeting the houses, infrastructure and public utilities.
